Another one for you, Chris:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Colorado-Southern-Railway-Dumont-Colorado-Depot-Clear-Creek-County-Colorado/352357703620?hash=item520a27dfc4:g:QqEAAOSwW8Ra~ZCf ![]() The photo is labeled "Dumont" but it is obviously a panorama of the West end of Idaho Springs. Interesting things in the enlargements posted: ![]() The boxcar lettering suggests a date of 1901-1906. The taller boxcar at the left end of the string of cars is one of the 1899 St Charles boxcars, still with delivery lettering scheme. ![]() Down by the water tank, is it my imagination, or is that a very steep spur leading down toward the creek, ending below a petroleum storage tank?? ![]()

Possibly a road that crosses at the water tank?

The Boxcar is on the Oil Siding, probably a pathway or access road: certainly not a Siding. Very nice addition to the Chamberlain pre-Dec-1907.
The street crossing is /was 5th Ave. ![]() ![]()

I think you're right, Jeff: http://digital.denverlibrary.org/cdm/fullbrowser/collection/p15330coll22/id/3381/rv/singleitem/rec/14 ![]() No sign of a turnout near the water tank; the spur for unloading seems to be on the other side of the mainline. The low position of the storage tank likely made maximal use of gravity for unloading product.

And once again, separated by an entire hemisphere, Chris and Jim post at the same instant!
![]() BTW, Chris, as new photos of Idaho Springs turn up, do you think that you could copy and insert them in sequence, into the appropriate chapter of your various threads of Idaho Springs? Every month or so, I think of a question about I.S. and find myself going back to your threads as a reference source. And not to make work for you, but if you could possibly post a new thread as a Table of Contents for your Idaho Springs posts, with links to each of your chapters? I think you have put together here, on the Discussion Forum, one of the best comprehensive photo discussions on mining in Idaho Springs. While the search engine here is good, I have trouble remembering which thread a given mill or industry was located. ![]()

Funny you say that Jim,
I had the intention of doing exactly that along with an overview of I.S. that directed the viewer to the previous threads. I have had a couple of new views to insert, ones you missed ![]() Stay Thirsty. ![]()

I've been thinking along these lines, too. There is so much information now on the Forum, after several years of everyone's contributions, but it is getting harder to find specific things, even using the search engine.
What would you think of the Idaho Springs overview, with chapter links, being a "sticky" that Daryl could pin to the top of the forum? Like Jeff's timeline? I was considering doing something similar with "South Park Division Stations" listing individual threads per specific locations by milepost. What say you, other tenants of Roper -- would this be of use?

Two photos along the west side of Boreas:
Looking down the grade at Illinois Gulch. Note RPO 13, before the end platforms were removed and the mail compartment rebuilt. Another of the tall window observation coaches trails the consist.

Listed on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Georgetown-Colorado-Southern-Railway-Rotary-Snowplow-Negative-Print/352402756009?hash=item520cd751a9%3Ag%3AqwEAAOSwVMtbRmkv&_sop=10&_nkw=colorado+%26+southern&_sacat=35975&rt=nc&LH_TitleDesc=1
![]() Listing states location as Georgetown, but that's not possible -- our recent thread on the Blackhawk water tank established that the Rotary was only run up Clear Creek during the winter of 1913-1914. The locomotives have Ridgeway spark arresters, so photo is likely after 1920. Anyone recognize the location???

![]() Looks like the experts of the Colorado Rail Annual are wrong. The Rotary was used on Clear Creek more than thought. So we're looking east, in the yard, the depot behind us . . . right?
