C&S 099

Jeff Ramsey
Hello all. Recently I have been doing a little research on Wrecker or Derrick 099. Just curious if anyone might have some images or info on this piece of work equipment they could share on this forum?

Jeff,

Good photos of 099 are difficult to find.

There is a partial front view of 099 in the Pictorial Supplement of DSP&P book.

There are also a couple views of 099 in the Robb book on C&S rolling stock.

The 099 apparently received a steel frame about 1912, so there are two versions to consider….

Regards,

Bob Stears

PS: I own the original glass negative for the photograph of 099 printed in the Pictorial Supplement book. Does anybody know of a photography studio that specializes in making prints form glass plates?

Dan Windolph built a model of it a few years back and it was featured in Bogies and Loop

Robert - I know Bob Schoppe uses Denver Digital to scan glass plates, and he seems to have had good luck with them. I scan my own on an HP Scanjet G4050 wich can handle negatives up to at least 8x10, and would be happy to scan yours if you wanted to ship it. Once you have a good high-resolution scan, there are lots of services that will print them in many sizes and media types. Most modern photo labs print digitally. Even if you drop off film, the machine develops the negative, then scans it to send the digitized image to the printer.

I seem to recollect there is a photo of the Roundhouse from the west with 099 parked outside the back. When was it built?
