Sherrod Loop for sale and a video of the curve today
The site of Sherrod Loop on the South Park Line's eastbound route to the Alpine Tunnel is now for sale if anyone has a little extra cash around. You can check out some details on a blog post here.
Below is a video I made that is part of a series following the C&S route from Pitkin towards Alpine Tunnel.
Part 7 of this series follows the DSP&P/C&S route from the destroyed and abandoned townsite of Woodstock to the reverse curve named Sherrod Loop or Curve. Once the railroad curved back it began its final climb, clinging to the mountainside past the imposing Palisades, up toward the famous Alpine Tunnel.
