Riding the C&S east of Alpine Tunnel (Fisher to Glencliff)
This video rides on the former Denver South Park & Pacific, Denver Leadville & Gunnison, Colorado & Southern narrow gauge right-of-way eastbound from the townsite of Alpine (later renamed Fisher) to the townsite of Glen Cliff (originally named Cascade). A siding is pointed out along the way. This route originally (westbound) connected with the famed Alpine Tunnel. When service through the tunnel was discontinued in 1910 the railroad ran a stub line from Buena Vista through to Hancock and Romley until 1924.
The video ends at the point that today's present road (built on the old South Park roadbed) diverges from the right-of-way at Glencliff.
