From today's Summit Daily News:
125 years ago: Additional snow blockade halts train traffic for three days
On April 29, 1899, another “gentle” winter zephyr visited the area and filled the newly cleared train tracks over the Boreas pass with 4-6 feet of new snow. With the rotary plow working in the Gunnison district, a delay of three days was caused in Summit County before the ponderous machine would be wheeled over and set to work between Como and Breckenridge. The delay caused some uneasiness and a few uncomplimentary remarks, but now that the South Park has again resumed daily trains between Dillon and Denver, the hardships of the winter’s blockades will soon be forgotten and recorded as ancient history.
