Re: Not Como Nevada

Don Gustavson II
Our open house went well. Things ran better then I expected. (With a little extra wheel cleaning).
I do not have any running C&S passenger cars, or running C&S locomotives right now. (Need to convert old brass locos to DCC).
So in this photo is a special excursion train that came down from a distant railroad.
The picture turned out nice, so I thought I would post it.

I got the highest resolution picture of the Hotel/eating house I could find. Photoshop-ed it. Removed the modern truck, fixed some shingles and what not. Printed and cut it out. Stuck it in its place. (Not to scale).  Kind of got me looking forward to building this structure. Maybe a good winter project at home.

Re: Not Como Nevada

ComoDepot
You have the Hotel in a much later post Railroad guise, the paint came in the 1940's and the central chimney in 1954. Missing a few Chimneys. And the Hotel is much bigger than the Depot. The Pacific dwarfed the Depot. The Hotel is 90ft long give or take,.

The Depot looks like post mid 1920's. But by then the platform had gone.

The picture I used looks like it was taken in 2014. I was just looking for a place holder that would print out well for now.
I may be asking lots of questions about it later on.

wow, Don,

your layout has a wonderful sense of wide-open space that is rarely accomplished.  Magnificent!

Thanks John.

I am done with this area, for now..
Had a big push on doing some scenery ahead of our open house this weekend.

Inspired by the Colorado Midland tunnels north of Buena Vista.
The C&S runs up the hill from the tunnels on our layout.

A box culvert of my own design.
