C&S 4319

Some things never change like waiting for a new C&S coal car..

Isn't this the Central City coal car??

Note that the farthest side stake (to the right) is one of the surviving tapered stakes, as built.

BTW, the new Como coal car 4319 is one of the 1902 ("phase 1") coal cars. Cars 4089 and 4090 in the builder's photo are two of the St Charles 1898 ("phase zero") coal cars.

Thanks for posting this, Jeff.

As I recall, this car has been sitting somewhere off by itself, as #71 and Combine #20 are displayed at a casino in Blackhawk.

I also have been told #4319 is on a 10 year loan from City officials in Central City.

Excellent news.

Also delivered was a D&RGW High Side Gon.

Thank goodness it is going somewhere it will get some TCL.

I thought Central owned the 71 and combine 20. How did the hotel get title?

Agreed, this is really excellent news!  4319 has been sitting in a park near Eureka street since 71 and the combine were put on a pedestal next to a casino.  She hasn't been pulled behind a locomotive since 1989/1990.  So, great to see her in loving and useful hands once again.

Here she is in 1990 with her roof for passengers after the Blackhawk and Central City Narrow Gauge Railroad shut down:

As far as I know, Keith, whatever agency in Central City still owns all three pieces. There wasn't room for #4319.

Plenty of room in Como, though.
