Freight Car Chalk Markings

Check out the UPD&G boxcar at Dumont:CHS-B20 and DSP&P flat car and D&RG/CRS TRUST boxcar at Alpine/Fisher:WHJ-385(notice the depot hack in the background).Chris,could you post the photos,please?

So what was this done for--some marking are obvious others not so obvious.  Was this just grafittee?  This was also seen quite often on the D&RGW up through abandonment.  Those are some marked up cars--would make an interesting model detail.

Notice the extension to the air hose,both on 1008 and 1003.Notice that the brakeman/conductor appears to be using a club on the  brake wheel.
