Re: Alpine Tunnel Glass

Part of a document. Says that the Como roundhouse three lights were powered by a generator, not a dynamo, just for what it is worth.
Seems the time frame described is near end of days.

There is also the account of the lights by Andy Anderson in the Park Count archives, and the third, which I can not recover. It was at a time when it was a tent city, trains ran at all hours of the night, (on a continual basis if I recall correct) and the engines had to stop outside of Como to cover their lamps so as not to waken the tent dwellers.

My apologies. Was tired last night and posted in the wrong spot. And under the wrong subject too.

Hello Mr South Park again,
Still can not answer your question but you may recall my saying a couple of things here.
One, I suggested that maybe the one wire was not for telegraph but for electricity wire.
Two, I mentioned power being supplied to the Como depot for lights powered from the roundhouse.
And three, I talked about the shed that was later turned into a garage behind the depot being the battery room.

Here are two photos of the back of the depot that seem to show the same type glass insulators that you also show. They are in the middle of the back of the office. Ceramic insulators are on each corner too.

Forgot to mention that it is mentioned in Poor`s book, the wire running through the tunnel, in the chapter related.
