Blackhawk and Central City RR by drone

Kurt Maechner
I came across two interesting videos by a group that does lots drone footage around Central City.  In February of this year they filmed the ROW of the old Blackhawk and Central City tourist route.  It gives a great view of the C&S grade from Central City as it winds toward Blackhawk.  This post has both videos:

Their video description says, "Hopefully to become an active line again."  Does anyone know of any credible reason for this hope?  I knew of one Colorado individual with some plans for it a few years ago, but I haven't seen any development since then.

Either way, it's a fun video.

Enjoy,
Kurt

Interesting Video!  Us "old timer's" remember this line as the "Colorado Central Narrow Gauge RR", long before the short lived B&CC operation.

Rick Steele and I spent many a day going up and down this line back in the day. Not sure why it would ever be active again.

I went up and down that hill many times myself with Dee Brown and then a guy named Jack Spence!  I would find it hard to believe anyone would try to rebuild the RR due to private property and changes due to Casino roads and parking structures.  I only rode with Floyd Cothran once in the cab of the 71.  Mountain City trestle would also cost a few bucks.

I have to agree with Mike. There is no reason that I can see for reactivating the line, especially because the half from the last switchback into Black Hawk is totally missing.

The only reason for its existence would be to bring people from the nearby parking lots into Central City, and for that, as JP mentioned, you would have to rebuild bridges over two stopes, Mountain City Trestle, bridge over Gregory Stope and the small trestle at Running Lode.

Get your shovels and lumber handy, You got one helluva job ahead of you.
