A new year and a new tender tank

Fred 52
This post was updated on .

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Recently Steve G, sent me a beautiful tender tank for my Bachman #21 mogul. I had to do some surgery on the stock tender frame in order to get it to fit correctly but the end result is rather nice. fitting it required removing the two 'ridges' that originally held the stock tender in place. What's next? Ordering a bunch of detail parts from Keith Wiseman to put on the air tank and plumb it and building up the coal load. Then  I think I will begin on the Loco.
A search for a consolidation Is Under way. I want to try to upgrade a BLM D&RGW to at least resemble #69.

Does any one know of a source for a butterfly plow in O scale?

Fred,

Very nice!  Keith Wiseman might have a spare plow that would come from the brass imports.  Sometimes there are extra parts that are imported with the models that show up in collections or on eBay.

Todd,

Thanks for your input. I'll Email Keith and see what he has. I already have a list of detail parts I need to finiwhn dressing #21 up. I'm on the lookout for another mogul or 2 OR 3. I am also looking for a Broadway 2-8-0 or two 5o modify into #'s 68 & 69.

Fred, I might have a PSC  butterfly, I'll check this evening. Before I changed to On3 I was stockpiling parts to do Broadway Limited On30 conversions following the methods of Harry Brunk's HOn3 conversions, one of which was #69. I may also have a few extra items like tender hatches and air reservoirs, I'll let you know.

Hi Fred,
Here's a picture of the spare parts that I have. As follows:
PSC Butterfly plow kit
Air tank ends and tubing (for boiler top air tanks)
Box headlights (for #69), there are 2
Resin coal bunker for Bachmann Mogul tender
Tube pilot for C&S locos
Headlight bracket, DSP&P/C&S
Pyle headlight
Extra Bachmann tender frame and trucks, I may have an extra tender shell as well.

If you'd like any or all of these I'll be happy to give them to you, I have an On3 brass #69 that uses most of these, so I no longer need them.

Hi everyone/

I need some help. I want t find out if someone might have either drawings or a good photo that I might follow when  I begin plumbing the air tank on the tender. I think I remember seeing one photo on here awhile back.

Fred,
I posted this a few years ago. It includes a Westinghouse diagram from 1909 documentation showing the brake piping. Good reference as to what the various pies do as well as just where they go.

Fred,

I'm having trouble making out any detail due to the lighting and focus. Do you have a table that you might put it on to get a photo?

Thanks!
