A look at (most of) the surviving C&S depots

Kurt Maechner
Here is a compilation I put together of most of the surviving Colorado & Southern narrow gauge depots. The only ones I missed are the Glenisle/Grousemont wait station now in Bailey, the partial remains of the Alma depot, and the Central City depot (buried under mine tailings). I've heard the Dome Rock one is still around, but I don't know for sure. If there are others that I missed, let me know.
Enjoy,
Kurt

I didn't know that. Does anyone have any photos of it presently?

Another one is the Empire (Empire Junction) Station now a private residence

Not many historic photos exist of it

Keystone Depot even had its own thread on here, see: http://c-sng-discussion-forum.254.s1.nabble.com/Keystone-Depot-tp9635.html

Via various discussion forums and video comments, these C&S narrow gauge depots are also still in existence (besides the ones in the video). Does anyone have any more information on any of these in terms of their present status beyond what is below?

Estabrook
Keystone: Now used for Keystone Stables
Empire Junction (Seems to be presently a residence)
Alma (I think part of it remains but in very bad shape)
Dome Rock (This is one of those "I heard it somewhere" things)
Central City: Definitely still there, but buried for a long time under mine tailings (now with a parking lot on top)
Combined Glenisle/Grousmont wait stations in Bailey at Helen McGraw Tatum Memorial Park

Below shows what I think to be the Empire Junction depot (the center building of the three shown) on Google Earth.
The line running across the screen is an estimation of the old C&S roadbed.

The wait station at Cassells was still standing in 2012, and I assume it still is. It's within Camp Santa Maria

How it looked when I saw it at the DSP&P HS convention in 2012:

And how it looked in 1923:

The "Alma" depot was technically Alma Junction. It still shows up in the aerial and street vew on Google Maps. Here's how it looked during the DSP&PHS convention in 2005:

So, with the addition we have:

Estabrook
Keystone: Now used for Keystone Stables
Empire Junction (Seems to be presently a residence)
Alma: bad shape, but present (once used as part of a motel?)
Cassells wait station: on the grounds of Camp Santa Maria

About the depot at London Jct(Alma), I notice a reflection in the window glass.  Now that must be the ghost of the famous dance hall gal that the mountain "Silverheals" is named for!  Tom Klinger
