I added two links in the title description. Thanks for the suggestion Robert.
For those that do not know, you can click on "permalink" at the top of the forum to open it by itself without the blog.

Also Robert, if you go to the blog by clicking on the picture in the top right of any blog page, it takes you to the forum without ever leaving the blog.

Re: Welcome!

A dedicated C&S/DSP&P forum is most welcomed! Thanks for setting it up.

I'm not modeling C&S, but my interest in the railroad is growing exponentially. I've got all 3 of Tom Klingers books now and have enjoyed them very much.

I've been fortunate to explore some of the old grades in the past few years. Here are the trip reports if you're interested.

Welcome aboard Jason. Thank you for the links to your trip reports. Lots of wonderful pictures you have there. But what I love most is how I can tell your pure enthusiasm for discovering something new, and the realization that the South Park line is maybe more interesting and picturesque than that other railroad. Thanks!

Re: Welcome!

Thanks Darel. The biggest benefit of that "other railroad" is the two operating remnants that make experiencing narrow gauge steam railroading a great deal easier. Other than the Loop, you need a healthy imagination to experience the C&S.

That said, I've hiked and driven both approaches to Alpine Tunnel and the "other railroads" pale in comparison. That stretch of ROW between St Elmo and Pitkin is mind-blowing. The audaciousness that it took to build a railroad there is admirable and that's where my fascination with the South Park starts. It was a heckuva ballsy railroad.

Rick,

That sounds very interesting, we'll have to talk. What make/model are you getting?

I've been tied up with work and my Dad passed away the day after Christmas - so lots of trips to Los Angeles to help Mom get squared away. As a result, not getting any modeling done at all.
