Each year, History Colorado's Stephen H. Hart Awards honor outstanding projects that preserve Colorado's meaningful past. Over the last few years History Colorado has contributed significant grant funds to the repair of the Palisade Wall. The Palisades Wall and Alpine Tunnel was nominated by History Colorado staff as one of the 2026 People's Choice Award nominees. Voting is open to the public now until October 27th. It would be great to get some votes so that History Colorado sees the value of funding future historic railroad projects.

This is the 5th Annual People's Choice Award.  Which of these projects is your favorite Colorado preservation story? We want your vote!  There are five projects to select from and the project that receives the highest number of votes will be selected as the People's Choice Award for the 2026 Stephen H. Hart Awards. The Stephen H. Hart Awards is History Colorado’s annual preservation event.  The event celebrates and recognizes exemplary projects in archaeology and historic preservation across the state and highlights their contributions to Colorado’s unique history.  See below for brief descriptions for each project.
