I'm doing some research on the end of the Clear Creek Line and wondered if anyone knows much about Rube Morris, particularly if he was an engineer.
The C&S took his bid to tear up the Idaho Springs to Golden line and he started in early May (though later was forced out of the job). According to documents in Daniel Edwards' books, he was the one who hauled C&S 60 and coach 70 to Idaho Springs for display. He also had a few derailments during his work (one while running low on water) and another when returning to Golden.
All the documents refer to things like 'Morris' engine' or 'Morris' train,' but I can't make out whether he was actually operating engine 69 himself or if the reference to 'Morris' engine' is just given because he was the guy in charge of the scrapping operation.
Anyone know?
