Rose City Ore Co (Iron City) and the Rump Gilpin Tram

I've recently been chasing down info on the short lived Rose City Ore Co, which was the attempted revival of the Iron City Mill.  Most know this only operated for about a year before the mill burned down, and the last mile of the Gilpin Tramway running from somewhere near Chase Gulch to the Iron City Mill was utilized with a little McFarlane-Eggers locomotive.  




Now something interesting I've uncovered from this clipping from a copy of the "Ford Power Age" Magazine from October 23rd, 1927, mentioning that a second Fordson was used to haul concentrates to the "railroad point" for shipment.  From my understanding, the C&S still maintained a spur to the mill even after the abandonment of the Tramway, so was it possible the mill was using another McFarlane Eggers to shift loaded box cars the 1/2 mile back to the yards around the depot for the C&S?





I'm not fully sure what the other 2 mines in the area that were described as using M-E locomotives to shift ore cars around, but I do know the Chain O' Mines received a "gasoline motor" for hauling ore cars out of the Quartz Hill Tunnel at Nevadaville in 1928.

 Well- I will tell you it was 1956- know that for sure as it came originally from my Dad Weldon's slides. However of the exact location around Nevadaville I am not sure as Dad took the pic ten years before I was born. I wonder where AI snatched it from? I know I had posted it in the C&S FB group but that is a closed group. Can't remember if I posted it here.

Sorry to tread on your image Jim.  
I've had that image since 31st July2018: I think it came from an Ebay slide sale I had scarfed; this was before you first ever posted on here.....unless you posted it on the NGDF, perhaps, as I don't do fb, that site opaques my screen as soon as I click any fb link.
Anyway, there isn't a companion image of the rest of the trackage.

No problem- I just like my Dad to be credited. He took so many slides (26,000 of them!) and never thought that anyone would appreciate his stuff. Not too long before he passed away I had shared some of his photos over in the old Yahoo groups and read some of the positive comments to him and the tears just kind of welled up a bit- he never expected that. It meant a lot.  
 I was a little surprised that AI snatched it. The sad thing it that when that happens AI almost claims it as its own and never gives credit. Looks like I did share it in a couple of open Facebook groups that I forgot about when I did a visual search. I also think I had shared it in the defunct Freerails Gilpin Tram thread.

AI is problematic for lots of reasons but its not the only culprit. More and more people share or repost or download without preserving credit. A lot post images with no descriptive text of any type. There are those who add "From the collection of [their name]" and the image is recognizable as actually being from an archive or library. A lot of this is innocent, some of it isn't. It's cool to see the stuff show up but the respect for ownership can be pretty low in the FB swamp. A big reason I stopped posting there.

Very true- I do try to be careful in the C&S group to have people get documentation but it doesn't carry over to other ones that is for sure.
