Leadville has a number of streets. In the 30s, these were dirt with a crown in the middle and ditches on either side. As the railroad alignment is perpendicular to the slope, there are also a variety of culverts at each crossing. I have been pondering how to model the road and crown. I was thinking about making a former in styrene and scraping plaster or sculpt a mold, but thought some thin slices of foam and matte medium would be easier. Here is the first street--either 11th or 12th.
I am still wondering about the signaling rules: there are 5 crossings on the D&RG and 4 on the C&S. That makes for a tired left arm, pulling on the whistle cord.
