It's also listed as No. 6 on some of the maps. But I'm sure that changed. And you are right about the Bridge visible under the spout. The thing that hassled me about the Elk Creek tank was that it's hard to tell that the Creek is between the track and the rocks beyond,

Yep sorry, 706  I am at a loss to explain that fat finger moment,as I had compared the number of truss chords and panels, cross-checked the location on googlemaps with my Canyon pilgramage notes and then fluffed the last digit.....ugh, creeping old age!

And just how did we get so far from Stilts to #60 at Idaho?  Steele must be impressed{:))

Damn Straight I'm impressed.

I love it when threads go awry like this, they are so much more fun to read.

There happened to be smoke or steam obscuring the 9 making it look like a 0.

See how much fun I would have missed had I mentioned the engine number? I'm not really bad.... I'm just drawn that way.

And yet another 'cos Forks Creek is only just downstream from here, right?  #70 on the 706.

From the good folks at Googlemaps:  I had intended to shoot these abutments last trip but a Trucker had lost his brakes coming down Floyd Hill on I70 ending up in the Clear Creek and there were people and  vehicles everywhere hence the "lost" picture.

Here's another, from a Collier's stereo view. It may not be new, but I don't remember seeing it before.

And there's more...
This is from a stereo card, which is hand-dated 1887 on the back (which seems reasonable based on the congdon stack). It looks like the stilts have been surrounded by a stone wall, and back-filled to put the structures on solid ground. It also looks like they planted some trees in the newly reclaimed land.

I pity the poor SOB that got tasked with sinking that outhouse pit in
the soft and sandy soil there !

Holy resurrected threads, Batman!    I heartily approve.

Great images Todd,

I pity the poor SOB that got tasked with sinking that....

I bet he was happy as, a welcome respite from sinking a shaft in hard rock, I would think.
