Painting Pictures

One of the things I've missed from the move back to Colorado has been the unrelated loss of my old Dell Computer with the Microsoft "Picture It!" software I used for years to manipulate pictures I had taken with my phone.

With a new MAC Mini, I've been transitioning to the world of Apple from the old days of Android and Windows. Although I still use an Android phone. Try as I might, I haven't until recently run across anyone who could lead me through the weeds who could, from experience, advise me with a way to go to replace the old software I used to use. That changed through several encounters I've had with Jim Gray. He has an Apple Laptop with Photoshop Elements 2022 on it and invited me to stop by so we could fiddle around with it. Eureka!

I ordered Photoshop Elements 2024, which turns out to be available for both MAC and Windows, direct from Adobe, and a manual on Elements for Dummies (Seriously) which has helped guide me through the various steps Jim showed me.

So today, I sat down and went after a modification to an image you've already seen and here it is. I think this first whack has turned out about as well as any I've done before.

I'll probably only use about 3% of the functions this program will do,  but as I've said so often. if I can do it, anyone can. I felt the cost, at about $66 was very reasonable, and I am delighted to have found a way to do this again.

If you've ever thought about this but aren't sure if it might work for you and your layout, send me a picture from your phone and let's see what happens. Remember that even the Great John Allen built his famous G&D from wanting to take pictures of his models.

Some years ago I added some smoke and steam to photos taken by George Pierson on his HOn3 Tuscarora Valley RR, using Photoshop Elements. I like this one because of the human presence... acknowledging the artifice of the model while trying to convince the scene is real. Or something like that...
