Narrow Gauge Convention

Mike McKenzie
Just curious as to who going to this year's narrow gauge convention in Minneapolis. I can't get to them all, but this one is close enough so I'm in. Hope to see y'all there if you're going...

Sorry, Mike, I am skipping this year--too much happening with family and business.

Please report out to our happy group.

(I will be attending the Sn3 Symposium in Seattle, however).

I won't be going but I will be there in spirit so to speak,  Keith Pashina will be including some of my research on the Gilpin Tramway in his clinics.

Chris,

Have you discovered anything new and significant beyond the last material published in the past 50 years in all the books, magazines, and by the Gilpin Railroad Historical Society, and if so will it be available to us after the convention?

I consider it to be new and significant, but a theory may be the best way to describe it, not anything about moving Depots from elsewhere, just a new take on an old age mystery.
How Keith presents it is up to him, so you'll have to wait and see.  I guess that you will be free to take away the info from the clinic and ponder, I doubt it will ever be published since Sundance did the major work on the Gilpin, and this is such a tiny slice.   I haven't presented it here since there seems to be little Gilpin interest thesedays.

Let me guess ....  the Como depot was moved there by laying 2' gauge track from
above Central City to Como via temporary spur off the Gilpin system !

I have been interested in two foot railroads for over 50 years.  Since the majority of the known information is out there, it is the tiny slices of something new that I am always looking forward to.

Figuring the Gilpin Tram didn't exist at the time that would be a little bit hard-of course they could have used horse or mule teams-check out Echos of Como.Question is,How much of the Depot is original 1879 and how much is add ons.David indicates in one of hi DSP-P posts that there were 4 different stages.Consider that the DSP&P had a depot near the DSP&P Denver Roundhouse that was removed in 1881=where did it go?

You were off running around when I stopped. Iā€™m sorry I missed you. Time at the conventions is just too short and goes so fast. šŸ˜”
