Thank you, William, but the photo of the 8 is backwards ya know? The cinder tube from the Ridgeway spark arrestor is routed down the fireman's side of the smoke box. Best you stick to those D&RGW hogs.

Ahh, but I love that shot.

So the dead #8 is being dragged from Dickey back to Denver, right?  And this is somewhere along the Blue between Dickey and Break, headed south?  Anyone know exactly where?

Cheers,
Jeff.

Re: Merry Christmas

Yes...I believe the locomotives were stored dead in Dickey the last winter, and this movement sent them all to Denver. I suspect this is just north of Breck looking west, probably near where the rec center is today. Wasn't it 8 that the C&S was looking to donate to a town and could not find a taker?

Ahh… excellent Chris.

I spent some time with Google Maps, but having not flipped the picture I was of course looking at the wrong side of the valley.  D’oh.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Perhaps you can scope out that dogleg in the Blue on your next visit Jeff, to see if any Pilings remain?

That area (near the Colorado Mountain College campus) has been heavily reworked over the years, I think the river itself has been rerouted a bit.  There's a gravel company there now, too.  I've never seen any pilings there, though I haven't looked specifically for them.

The only piling I know about in Breck are the ones across South Park Avenue south of the fake dredge (south end of downtown) between two modern buildings, though  thought there used to be some inside that first big loop on Boreas Pass Road (last loop going into town.)

Yeah, that section of the Blue has been reclaimed.  The pilings Mike is talking about are the ones I posted a picture of a year or so ago (our condo is in one of those modern buildings).

Cheers,
Jeff.

Just a "bit" Jeff.
