Kokomo Switching

John McCutcheon
Looking at the map of Kokomo and the location of the C&S depot it looks like freights (LCL's) and passenger go to the depot and then back down to the main and wye on the main to either Leadville or Denver. Is this correct ?. This would be an interesting operation specially when servicing the mill and smelter.

In Todd's map the mainline runs from bottom center to right center.  The line up to Wilfley's is a spur.

I think the White Quail Smelter had already shut down by the time the C&S arrived.  The Summit Smelter was serviced by the D&RGW, but in any case ran for only 6 months (in 1892/3) before being declared a failure and shut down.  (The equipment was later moved to the San Juans, presumably to the Rose/Walsh Smelter.)
