Just joined

David Ketchum
I just found this forum and the related C&Sn3 page on the web.  I am a frustrated narrow gauger and have recently joined the Cheyenne Depot Museum group in Cheyenne with the UC&N as a volunteer.  Most of my experience has been with D&RG(W) NG locomotives and some time back I read an article about the similarities, and differences, between the C class on the D&RG(W) and the B-4 classes used on the C&S, especially along Clear Creek.  Where can one find this article, or book?  I would like to learn more about the overall C&S operation so that I am a little better informed.

Welcome aboard, David. You found a good place to get a lot of information you seek.

There is a thread somewhere that covers tonnage ratings and comparisons of the D&RGW C-19's and the C&S B-4-E class. Darel says there is a good search engine on this site, try searching for #346 and see if anything comes up.

You won't believe some of the stuff you'll learn here.

Hi David,

I suggest you obtain the Jan/Feb 2005 issue of the NG&SL Gazette or the Equivilent volume of the Up Clear Creek reprints.  You'll find the article is what you seek, a comparison of the "Kinship" Between C-16's and C&S 2-8-0's.

EDIT: whoops, I forgot to add that it was by Harry Brunk.

Welcome David,

You shouldn't be frustrated as a narrow gauger. After all, you have one of the best HOn3 Layouts in the country to play on.... mine....

If you want any questions answered, call me, get my phone number from Rick Inglis and I'll be happy to sit down and try to walk you through any questions that you have.
