I looked and looked and couldn't find an emoticon of a smiley face installing DCC and painting a couple of OMI CNR steamers. Enter the Brass Thundercloud where castings pour like RAIN!

Water Tower? Water Tower? Did someone say Riverview....?

Crop from A. C. Lewis Collection

(passssst.... it's in the Platte Canyon . Over on the South Park Line.... and; Pssssst - I just got off topic....)

"Rick or Derrell:  Is there any mention of this W.T. location in the C&S inventory of 1899(?), something I've never seen to read."

Rick. Have you ever seen this? I've never seen it. I've never even seen a B&B booklet on the CC Division, period. Not that there isn't / wasn't one. I'm certain the CC's B&B gang had them. As far as an inventory of TOC C&S property I've never seen that and am not certain a concise compilation was ever constructed  - not in the sense John seems to be suggesting. Have you? Believe me, I'd love to have a copy. There are such documents for cars and engines. So if you have such a critter maybe you can share what it may offer about the Idaho Springs water tanks.

My last post was my attempt at subtlety. Let me be blunt - I've had enough of the CC line for a while - Great stuff! Great stuff - and I do read it. Y'all go on and talk about it. Don't let my new-row-seeeeees stop you. Great photos. I've never been interested in the CC line like I have the SP line. But there are nearly as many Blackhawk layouts as there are O-fear loops (in Sn3).....

Re: Idaho Springs Tank

Derrell, I thought about modeling Idaho Springs early on, because I really like the street running and the tight confines of the yard among the buildings. Plus the depot is still extant, though on a different site along the road up the ways towards Mount Evans. Actually, as Chris unearths neat photos, Idaho Springs (we should really know the telegraph shorthand!) would make a great subject for cassette modelling as Darel is doing at Dickey.

I confess I have several models of O-fer buildings, but could not bring myself to model it considering all the outstanding interpretations on other layouts. While it is picture-skew, it has been done. Alas.

Idaho Springs is Gritty! Very appealing. No doubt.

Opher Loop is very appealing too. It's like, Colorado... so beautiful and enticing, everybody seems to want to live there. I started thinking I needed to move to South Western New Mexico - which isn't so appealing. Your neighbors are scorpions and sidewinders and they tend not to clutter up the scenery. Ha! Scenery! Have you ever been to SW NM? Ahhhhh; happiness is a monochrome solitude.... Like... the Pacific Ocean in a tropical drizzle that just fades to Gray.

Derrell,

I would think you would be more of a Black Hills kind of a person. Same goes for you model interest if the C&S becomes too popular. ;-)

Nope. I like SW NM because nobody else does. Black Hills doesn't qualify as a Colorado RR. Besides there are all those C-18 models out there to "correct" into F&CC.

What about the Montana end of the U&N,where the Mason Bogies and the Rhode Island Consolidations play.

I am frustrated at your obsession with needlessly “challenging” (to use your word) conventional wisdom, without factual provocation, and without ever conceding the point when you fail of reasonable supporting evidence - or indeed - when confronted with evidence to the contrary.
In my opinion, all you are doing is muddying the waters (pardon the pun) needlessly – to no legitimate purpose.
Apparently you don’t like my use of hyperbole in attempting to penetrate the brick wall I am banging my head against? And you therefore think I’ve scared off your supporters, since, “Because of [John’s hyperbole] I have noticed no-one else now dares enter this particular discussion.” Well, that’s flattering I guess, since I cannot think of ANYONE registered in this blog/forum I’d be capable of scaring off.
Isn’t the truth of Mark Twain’s maxim more the satisfying explanation: “Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.” We are doing just fine in that department all on our own. Why would anyone else care to join the “fun?!?”

I'm sorry I look like a needlessly challenging fool to you.
