Hey, You Slackers !

South Park
Whaddya all doing, out mowing the grass now that the sun is out ?  You're
not keeping me sufficiently amused with great photos and good historical
intel.  Let's get those posts up to pace !

Building a fill, laying more track on 3 fronts, adding a siding into the woodsheds and completing a turntable.... if that isn't enough I then have the firewood stack to put away.

However, feel free to contribute in your own way, OR just go back and re-read the Threads.

  I don't think I like your attitude, Mister !

Must be systemic.  I pulled everything out of my wife's office, pulled out the carpet
and pad, sealed the floors, shot lacquer on all the base trim, masked everything and painted
all the walls, THEN went up to the 12' x 12' hole in my roof where my master bathroom
used to be and framed in the raked north wall.  Somewhere in the mix, I went out and got
another load of 10' 2x6.  Tomorrow it's the east wall, and if time allows, make a pattern
rafter and get as far on the new roof as possible.  Of course, then it's Monday, and back to
work for a week, working on the projects in the evenings, until next weekend, when I can
push it on a little more !

As for me, it has been cutting up, picking up and burning the dead fall/fallen trees from our recent winter storms, mowing 5 acres and finishing the new footing, curtain and perimeter drains around the basement guest suite. Still have to re-landscape all the exposed raw earth left behind.

Not much time for model building the past few months, but I'm going to my friend Dale Kreutzer's house tomorrow for an operating session on the RGS between Dolores and Durango. Perhaps that will inspire me to get back to narrow gauge trains.

But never fear, South Park, I have a couple of new long posts that I'm working on. Patience is a virtue, you know!

Indeed, I was out mowing the grass:

But I've also been making some progress on my colossally condensed Platte Canon.  (So condensed, in fact, that the ROW goes over it, not through it.)  Pictures soon....

Hi Jim,

County Louth.  My wife posts tons of stuff on the house’s history here: https://www.facebook.com/RokebyHall/ (she’s in the middle of writing her masters thesis on one of the previous owners).

There are even a couple of railroad posts there, but only a couple. ;)

Cheers,
Jeff.

Wow, and I thought it difficult to maintain an old house built in the 1940s!

Where, pray tell, is the C&S in HOn3 abuilding?  A room in the main house or in the addition behind the conservatory?

For those of you unfamiliar with the Irish counties, County Louth is to the north of Dublin.  Never been there, my ancestors were from County Cork, so most of my Irish travels have been to the South Coast and West.

Truly, a beautiful home.

While hardly an Irish manor house, this is my little place in County Kitsap (taken last fall and winter):

My future layout room is on the second story loft of my barn shaped garage ("barrage"?). No, you don't have to climb the ladder, there is a staircase in the back. The little house is a modest retirement home, but we bought it for the view:

Hood Canal with Olympic Mountains beyond.

Gee, I didn't realise we had to show photographic evidence to the Sarge.

Started the "Mountain"

Constructed my own Metal Roller and with the addition of different Dies, a Rail-Roller.

Built a portable Turntable

Extended the Housetrack.

Reworked the Mill Branch.

A new End-loading Ramp.

That is a truly great view, Jim.

My layout room is in the attic of the main house.

And I love the turntable, Chris.  Nice work.

Cheers,
Jeff.

Haha Thanks, I think.

The Turntable appears to be good however let me that say my welding isn't quite "contest quality", still it will do as I have no way of financing an imported orginal from Europe.

And as for my Goat, she's a great help.  Hey Darel, can Roper do this?

Here are earlier photo's of a young Lou placing screwspikes; she has displayed an interest in the tracklaying from about 3 months old.  These days she tends more to sit around and supervise.

That is one talented "gandy dancer" goat that you've got there, Chris.

Hello all,
Main job at the moment is building a small extention for my portable layout about 3.4mx600mm , buildings in the process of construction are 6pocket coal bin and a pacific hotel. The rest will come later, all in S andSn3 and called South Park. Constructed outside under a pergola so the weather plays a big part in what gets done, This all has to be done by 2nd weekend in June as we have an exhibition that weekend, will post some photos when I get some more done. Thanks for all the info I have gleaned. Paul R Ballarat, vic, au
