G.M.E sound system

Tim Schreiner
I have owned, and used several PFM sound systems. I just purchased at a very reasonable price for a G.M.E sound system. It is missing the power supply, and I’m not familiar with what else is needed to operate? Sadly Randy Lee is in a nursing home, and I am unsuccessful so far in finding any info. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I did manage to find what their (Grizzly Mountain Engineering) website used to be and was able to pull up old versions on the "wayback machine" on archive.org. (This is an incredible tool to pull up old websites that have disappeared plus they have millions of books) There is more info on there and some notes on installation. Unfortunately the one here is a bit limited- There is a navigation bar at the top that allows you to click on the different times that the site was scanned and some of those might have more information.

Wow! Thank you for finding it on his website. That gave me a little bit more info, but I still need to find an instruction manual, or something to tell me what parts I’m missing. I know that I’m missing the power supply for sure.

It looked like the website didn't change much from the three dates I checked. Did you check through all the dates at top? I did check HOseeker too and no luck. Curious are there any markings on the back at the power plug in? That might help.

I took pics of the back. I also emailed GME in hopes I get a response.

Am I assuming that the wires in the left are the power input and they come out of the lower left of the console? If that shows 12V (can't tell for sure from the pic) a 12V power supply from Amazon etc would work. Look at the fuse and see how many amps and match it to that. The ones with the brick inline will generally be higher amps than the wall wart types. You may have to wire in a plug. That e-mail is long gone I'm sure- when I attempted to go into the website it did a redirect. (but it did tell me what it used to be so I could go into archive) Seeing the other stuff on the back I am assuming it used tape players using RCA jacks for certain sounds like PFM did.

Yes the cables would plug into an external power supply, and good idea to look at the fuse which is a 5amp. I assume that a 12volt power supply should be ok?   Btw here is a screenshot of the product description.

Tim,

FWIW the GME system is “grounded” opposite of the PFM systems. The best person to contact regarding the similarities and differences between the GME and PFM systems can best be answered by Gerry Cornell in Canada. I don’t known if schematics exist for the respective systems and how they are best able to work with each other. Contact Jerry Cornwall for his knowledge with regard to the specifics of the GME system.
