DSP&P Push Car or Hand Car Info

I have seen a few photos of what is either called a push car or a hand car. I did manage to find these photos in Klinger’s Gunnison Division book:





Q:Any thoughts on how these cars might have been painted when new?  

Since I don’t have a permanent layout yet, I was thinking about making a push car kit and painting it new as a flat car load. Of course, any other information would be welcome as well.

Probably Brown or Red Oxide. And, quite likely, lettered for DSP&P when new.

Later, just freight car red when recently painted. Faded red when not.
