ICC field notes of pipes being 2' down in a trench, at least in in the roundhouse. Would love to see Don Pacetti's version "official" version of the ICC accountment.
Thanks Rick. C&S records of the what can salvaged by the bidders for the dismantlers did not include the new Como tank and was fact moved by the railroad before the final rails where removed. I wonder where they moved it to?
Just to make things really clear.......the owners have no plans to build a water tank anytime in the near future and have not discussed doing so with anyone.
Any "ground penetrating radar" will need to be cleared by the owners as it is still private property.
To have a loco on site will require water somewhere, my first question for a water tank replica would be where is the money coming from? I am sure they are not cheap. Begs the question how much, but unless there is a source of funds I have not heard of difficult to see it happen anytime in the foreseeable future.
Leighton who is working with Chuck on the plans has I understand access to ground penetrating radar through the School of Mines. That is as much as I know, but would like to borrow/use it elsewhere.
On the general subject Bob Schoppe of DSP&P is collecting names for work sessions this year, no dates etc yet, he also mentioned this is the last Bogies and the Loop.
Chuck said today he has no current plans to build a tank. Maybe they have more ideas on how to get water for the engine but getting the engine there isn't going to happen overnight. There are a lot of factors he said to get an up and running workshop at the roundhouse and that means, more electricity, plumbing, structural modifications and more.
I would agree that a ground penetrating radar would be fun to use all over Como not just at the roundhouse.
A work session may be in the plans but it's not for building a water tank.
My ICC field notes list the upper Como tank as having desciptions of the base of being the same as French Gulch Tank.
Does anyone have a ICC listing for the French Gulch Tank or images of the one when it was narrow gauge?
Initially I was asked not to mention it, then not which locomotive it would be. So I will wait for the powers that be to make their own announcement, I am not surprised that the information is more widely known.
Obviously this has been a long time in the making.
