C&S combines, can Bachmann combines be used as C&S

Oldbear52
I have a small 'fleet' of Bachmann passenger cars that consist of a two door baggage, 2 combines and a coach. Can I use these as stand in rolling stock n the C&S? I am on a budget and will replace them as time allows.

I suppose they could be used for early C&S passenger cars, before the end platforms were removed from the baggage cars and the baggage end of the combines. The only short coaches were the inherited “Bowers-Dure” coaches, numbers 155-157, later 50-52.

For a complete description of C&S passenger cars of all classes, including folio sheets, see: http://www.midcontinent.org/rollingstock/CandS/cs_locator.htm

Be aware, you'll likely spend many an hour here!

And don't forget Ken Martin's new book of C&S passenger car plans: http://coloradosouthern.blogspot.com/2016/08/new-c-passenger-car-book.html

For the dollar spent, you can't buy a better C&S reference book.

Jim:

Thanks for your reply. I am going to order that book. I have to repaint the coaches an OD green instead of the current Kelly green. I am going to build up my fleet slowly as We live in a nursing home.
I do enjoy your responses they do help me quite a bit.

Fred,

If you are referring to the On30 cars I am not sure of the length of the cars but the baggage would work for No. 3, the combine would work for No. 20.

As Jim said the coach is too short, have the end platforms and there are other discrepancies to the cars but in the short term would work.

Remember the two rules of modeling.

Rule 1 - This is my railroad.

Rule 2 - In the event of visitor perceived discrepancies consult  rule 1.

Enjoy.

Thanks for your input. I am going to order your book real soon. We are planning a move into a "basement with a house over it" in spring. Then my railroad will take shape‼️ We are excited and over the winter we plan on getting our rolling stock, locos and structures built. My wife is going to build too. She wants to build our depots.👍🏼😃
One of the big things that draws me to the C&S is the geography and many examples of remaking heroic items.
