THE END IS NEAR!!!!
the C&S cabooses are coming!! Just got to build a pre-producion HOn3 model of C&S 1002 from Western rails/3dptrain The C&S cabooses and DSP&P waycars are coming in HOn3, Sn3 and On3/30!! These fantastic little pieces of jewelry will available starting with some limited numbers for physical purchase at the National Narrow Gauge Convention in HOn3 and On3/30. He he is hoping to have a sample for Sn3 as well-but these are not ready yet and the underframe was awaiting testing- these will be a bit delayed. (not sure of exact date) Production from online ordering for HOn3 and On3/30 starts 9-16 (after the convention) These will be fulfilled in the order received. (links at bottom) These are really beautiful models! The HO models are a bargain at $20 and the On3/30 is $40 These will be a full line with each caboose modeled correctly- including differences in length, trim, corner posts, and even grab irons. (a listing by number is on the ordering page) They are all based off Harry Brunk’s plans. There are three different versions of the DSP&P waycar as well. I have to say this fills a big hole especially in HOn3 where we only have seen Grandt Line’s 1005 and a flood of 1006 brass models and just a had a few 1002’s made. The long cabooses have never been made. While Sn3 and On3 modelers have seen the Overland Models cabeese- these were produced in pretty small runs with some as few as 10 models. On to the model- my HOn3 sample of 1002 is just a beautiful piece of jewelry. That is a great way to describe it. It has freestanding grab irons as well as end railings and ladders all cast as part of the 3D print. Very nicely done too- these are matched to the prototype of each caboose. The caboose is done as just two parts a body and a separate underframe- this allows for interior glazing, weight, and if desired, an interior- there is interior scribing even- (this will be horizontal in production my sample had vertical- this is being corrected.) The two pieces are connected by small screws. What you will need:-(in this case HOn3) Decals, Kadee 718 wheelsets and your choice of 714 or 705 couplers,- (I do suggest 705’s as this is easier to do in this installation) some wire and some small pieces of styrene for the brake arm and brake gear and X bracing in the cupola. You will also need window glazing and weights to add. For tools you will need flush cutting nippers and a brand new X-acto blade as well as a sanding stick to remove/ clean up support attachments in addition to a very thin blade jewler’s screwdriver. Support removal:All resin 3D prints require supports. In this case most have been removed (with very little nub left- well done) and a few swipes with the sanding sticks cleans them up. The end railings are protected with an extra corner support on each sides along with a couple of supports in each end. All these remove pretty easily with a flush cutter. You do want to install the couplers before removing these on the ends- this just protects the ends better. The one behind the brakewheel does require a new Xacto knife blade. On the underside some of the supports are left in place to protect the brake beam although several were already removed. Nip on the brake beam itself first then the body. Brakes: The brake beams and shoes on this model are really incredibly well done and right at dimensions. Because of the need of support placement (and even more so- removal) the brake arm on the cylinder as well as the linkages are not included. This is pretty simple to do- it was a one evening project using brass wire and a couple of small pieces of Styrene. (Mine was somewhat simplified for the limited space to work in HOn3) I am working with David on instructions for these- It will include a full brake gear rigging picture. This was painted with Model Master Boxcar Red. I still need to decal and I will be adding an interior. I really love this little kit and can not recommend it enough. 1002 has been on my want list for a while and this is great to see these out. Next on my list to order is 1003 which is on a lot of Clear Creek photos- Ordering- HOn3 https://3dptrain.com/products/wrc-ne07 On3/30 https://3dptrain.com/products/wrc-ne07-o
