Buena Vista Depot's resurrection video

Kurt Maechner
I put together a short video that chronicles the Buena Vista depot's rescue and renewal in the early 2000s and ends with a short video tour of the interior of the depot today.  Many groups and individuals played important roles in restoring the depot including The Denver, South Park & Pacific Historical Society.

And, for fun, the beginning of the video shows C&S 59 at the depot under simulated live steam in 1918.
Enjoy!

Very nice Kurt.

My wife and I were in Buena Vista in the summer of 2019 but we were there too late in the day to visit.  It is nice to see the inside.

Hi Kurt,

Thank you for posting the photo of the back side of the BV station.  I had found pictures of the front and both ends to guide my
modeling and of course, the station exists today in the park.  What I think I have learned from your picture is that the platform wrapped around the back  to where the door is.  What do you think?  Adding the platform in the back will be a simple addition to the model.

Thanks again,
Randy

Hi Randy,
Your depot looks great! I haven't done model work for a long time and am always impressed by the precision in work like yours.

The platform today seems to stop at the edge of the back of the depot.  They have a small platform off the back door (with some steps coming off I think)
Looking back at the old operation-era photo, I can't really make out the platform area in the back.

Like you said, it does look like there's a platform of some sort in the right of the photo wrapping around up to the door.

Is it me or does it look like those trees are growing out of the platform?!

Kurt,

Could you be so kind as to post the photo of  C&S 59 separately?

I don't think it is one that I've seen before.

Thanks,
Jim
