Boreas Pass Audio Tour CD

Kurt Maechner
I've found references to an Audio Tour CD that can be purchased for the drive over Boreas Pass.  Has anyone here used it?  Is it worth it?  We'll be driving the pass later this month and wondered if it was a good idea.

I'm not sure.  It seems to be offered by the Forest Service.  It's mentioned on their website here.

This is what they say:
General Information
Directions:
The interpretive route begins in Como, 10 miles northeast of Fairplay at the junction of US Highway 285 and Park County Road 33.  However, the tour can be reversed if you are coming from Breckenridge on Summit County Road 10.

General Notes:
Download an interpretive auto tour brochure for Boreas Pass or purchase an audio CD at the South Park Ranger District in Fairplay.

In 2014 the DSP&PHS did a tour of the Ohio Creek pass area. There was an attempt by the men guiding the tour to broadcast info over a local radio station but it was darn near impossible to pick up their signal

Kurt,
The CD in question can be bought from the Forest Service at the Fairplay Ranger station Monday through Friday.  Best if used starting in Como matching to Forest Service markers along the Boreas Pass road.  Keep your window down with your head out the window, speed at 10-15 mph looking front and back and you are firing  for  Brownie Anderson on the High Line!  Look down on the road  to check your railroad speed and you may spot a Boreas Pass souvenir!  Morning drives are best due to less traffic.  Have a great drive.

Thanks, Tom, for the info and well wishes!  I am thrilled to finally be able to make the whole trip.  I will definitely watch my locomotive speed! We will be starting from Como too so I'm glad that works out well.

This tour sounds interesting. And a audio tape of the sights along the way would be a big plus. Kurt enjoy your outing. I hope to make my pilgrimage west soon.
