Books on the C&S/DSP&P

Fatbiker52
I am interested in books. Especially on the DSP&P/C&S. I bought two on Amazon, Harry Brunk's Up Clear Creek, and Allen C Lewis book Colorado and Southern Clear Creek Narrow Gauge. I would love to hear about others.

Thanks guys for your excellent input as  usual. I will begin searching for these online as funds permit.  This railroad in all it's forms is really interesting. Waiting for my Brunk book. I will check Amazon for the second volume.

So much good information has been graciously provided by forum members in the "Files" section on the home page. One of which is a thorough bibliography written by John Schapekahm: http://coloradosouthern.blogspot.com/p/f.html

I thought that the DSP&P was intending to use Ohio(or OhioCreek)Pass.

@ robert, I know that the South Park originally surveyed and built some of that line, but I am going to use the Brunk book to use as a source of reference or plans for some buildings we intend to adapt for our ficticous towns of Susanton and Kebler.  That book is just a wish book for me. Kind of like looking at dealers PDF downloads of precision scale parts. Lol

If you go for "Goin Railroading", look for one of the original issue with the great Fogg painting on the cover. There was a second issue issued privately which isn't near the quality of the original. Of course, I'm highly biased....

If you guys enjoyed going back in time to the early 1900's on the C&S in Darel's header photo, you'll very much enjoy "Goin Railroading".

If you can find a copy of Hol Wagner's "The Colorado Road", and the "Pictorial Supplement of the DSP&P" by Ed Haley and Dick Kindig,  and Mac Poor, you're good! I believe there was an inexpensive copy of the Pictorial Supplement as well. Those are good if you can't find an original, a copy is better than not having it at all.

Both the Goin' Railroading and the Pictorial DSP&P 'copies' aren't even worth it. GR copy has Very Few photographs DSP&P  copy has material left out-particularly the Ohio Creek chapter.Photo quality is BAD.Watch eBay listings, train shows a hobby shops that handle used RR books-you should be able to find an original at a reasonable price.

There appear to be two ORIGINAL  DSP&P Pictorials on eBay now plus a copy of Haley's Ohio Creek map.

Thanks Robert. I will keep that in mind while I search. Going through Mallory Hope Ferrell's C&S book right now. Harry Brunk's 'More Up Clear Creek' is on deck. I also have a copy of the 'Colrado Rail Annual #11'. Just starting in this part in this part of our hobby. Ferrell's book has some nice pictures of the Ohio Creek Palisades.

Ferrell's South Park Line and Tom Klinger's series of books especially the Gunnison one are real good.
