The plans for the replacement Como water tank are currently under review by an engineer. Once that is completed they will be submitted to Park county to begin the permit process. We are hoping to begin construction this summer.
I have never come across any Water Tank history around here, well there was mention that the Jefferson tank burned in 1881 due to an over heating stove.
Seems to have been at least 3 tanks by the Roundhouse over the years and the one to the South. I assume there was one at Como from the first days, pre dating the Roundhouse, when was it replaced?
I recollect reading that the water supplied to the Roundhouse was not considered good for Boiler use, but this was much later, was this the reason for the second tank? Does not sem normal to have 2.
There was a reference to the 'bridge car' being present when the Garo Tank was repaired, was that a reference to the Railroad Carpenters.
