Seen in Created Butte:

I don't care that this was not on the C&S: it is just dripping with character and oddity and the side is screaming--SCREAMING to be modeled.

Also, lest you think the west is dead, we encountered this scene en route to Gunny from Crested Butte today:

Some day, these will turn into flat cattle. Speaking of which, get over to Shapeways and buy some flat cattle for your pike.

That building would be a standout on a layout. I wonder if the false fronts were an add on? Paul R.

False fronts appear to be original.... but the roof line has changed somewhat.

THE GRUBSTAKE: The former Grubstake was once three separate buildings built in the early 1880s.One of the buildings was the Bank of Crested Butte, which opened in 1880. The bank failed in 1931, when bank vice president, Charles Ross, who also owned Peanut Mine, used bank funds to illegally pay his miners at a time when the mine was in poor shape. The other sections of the building served at various times as a drugstore, post office, and a mortuary. In 1931, the three buildings were given a common roof and in 1958, Lil and Phil Hyslop bought all three sections, converted them into one building and opened the Grubstake Building.
