1978 C&S News (2) Test car at Climax, Argentine Central, Mill Gulch bridge removed

Kurt Maechner
Still trucking through the archive of the Rocky Mountain Rail Report, the newsletter of the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club.  Here is a post with some more miscellaneous South Park Line/C&Sng news from the 1978 editions including:

High Altitude Car testing on the Climax-Leadville Branch
EMD sent a test car along the old South Park branch in 1978.

The Club's plan and review of a walk on the Argentine Central grade out of Silver Plume and a ride on the Loop in the days before the reconstructed high bridge.  The Loop visit included both a double header and a German band!

Mill Gulch Bridge removed
Photos of the process of removing the C&S Platte Canon bridge are shown.

Dick Kindig did a presentation of his slides including the C&S Clear Creek line.

A call to paint the D&RGW coach behind C&S/RGS 74 in Boulder.

The arrival of Shay No. 8 at the Georgetown Loop.

Enjoy!
Kurt
