1973 C&S News - M.C. Poor passes, High Country RR is born, DSP&P 191 returns to CO

Kurt Maechner
I looked through the archive of the Rocky Mountain Rail Report, the newsletter of the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club and put a post together with some miscellaneous South Park Line/C&Sng news from the 1973 editions (There were no C&S-related items in the 1972 editions) including:

The Passing of M.C. Poor
The man who spent 10 years of his life compiling the enormous, detailed work that chronicled the history of the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad died in 1973.

The High Country Railroad is Born
The old Magic Mountain Railroad in Golden, Colorado was reborn in what became Heritage Square.  This time the 3-foot gauge line was torn up and rebuilt as a 2-foot gauge tourist railroad.

DSP&P 191 returns to Colorado
A short note announces the return of DSP&P 191, the oldest native Colorado locomotive, after 71 years away from her home state.

Enjoy!
