1967 C&S News - Plans to rebuild the Loop, Alpine Tunnel marker stone placed, 1898 complaints about the South Park Line

Kurt Maechner
I looked through the archive of the Rocky Mountain Rail Report, the newsletter of the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club and put a post together with some miscellaneous South Park Line/C&Sng news from the 1967 editions including:

The Union Pacific, former owner of the Georgetown Loop when it was the Union Pacific, Denver & Gulf, donates 10k to kick start the plans to rebuild the Loop.

Updates on the saved Silver Plume depot and news of a resurgence of life in Georgetown.

Info on meetings to establish a state historical park between Georgetown and Silver Plume.

A "tombstone" historical marker is placed at the west portal of Alpine Tunnel in honor of Mac Poor.

Quotes from two 1898 local Kokomo newspapers show dripping sarcasm about the service provided by the South Park Line.

Enjoy,
Kurt
