Paul,

In the late 1880s or 1890s car number 025 was still used more as a Business Car than a work train car.

So, I'd go with a UP passenger car green, whatever that was.

P-B-L, in their "Star" paint line, has a color called "SP/UP Dark Olive" (1-STR-29), evidently derived from Harriman standard paint specs. You might find that you like these paints, they are lacquers, have their own thinner and with the "Retarder" they flow out very nicely with an airbrush.  You can find them on the PBL Online catalog at their website: http://www.p-b-l.com/

And don't forget the gloss finish, so nearby figures can be reflected by the car siding.

Paul,

I have a paint chip from 911 when it was in the Black Hills (it was peeling off) and had friend analyze it. the bottom layer was brown the then it was a light olive green until a layer of yellow used for the 1948 railroad fair.
Looking at the folio for 912 it says the interior is "oak graining".

Terrific info, the colour I can mix, the DL&G decals will be harder to get in S, any ideas, I have looked at Labelle's site nothing suitable there. Paul R.

When I get back from the Narrow Gauge Convention, I will be happy to do that.

But I think that we need a small 025 above the doors.

Now that I'm out of the hospital, I can get  cam to work.both rr stuff and honey-do-lists are long.  I am going to leave the paint on the combine as. It is, for now. The green i am using is 'kelly green' . .50 bottle from Wal-Mart.
