#025 ,again.

Fatbiker52
Hey everyone....
I have time on my hands now and there's this little project that I explored once before.
It concerns Business car #025. I remember some one in the forum has posted  color photo of his model of the car in color.
It looked like it was burgundy with a type if roof walk.
I don't know if I'm just confusing #025 with another car used to inspect water tanks, butmy memory isn't real clear on this. I have a Bachmann combineall set to be dismantled and undergo whatever razor was work I need to do.
I would really appreciate any help on locating this information/photos.

I believe you are referring to Bob Stears' model of C&S 089.  A photo appeared in the Passenger Car thread:

Bob discussed the history of the car in another thread:

Jim thanks loads. That's the one I was looking for. I can now proceed to do my 'surgery'.

There are more pictures of the model, the prototype, and it's previous incarnations in one of the Narrow Gauge Annuals from several years back.It was originally a converted DSP&P boxcar. There is a picture of it at Hancock in 1882 in the Kiercey photo collection. One of the collected stories in Historic Alpine Tunnel leads me to believe that this was the car P.F.Barr lived in.

There is a posting on eBay about a kit available in Nn3 for this version of the car. This photo holds a lot of neat posting  material. If I know or have access to the link,or can find it I sometimes do post it.I was figuring that you would know which Narrow Gauge Annual had the article on #025 in it.I seem to remember it having several color pictures of Robert's model.Recent issues of B&L have had good closeups of it in its business car days.

You can find the annuals on Ebay sometimes.  I believe you might be able to download as a PDF from the publisher also.  I think you can download the Finescale Modeler issues from the Publisher.  Google it...

Re: #025 ,again.

After reading Mallory Hope Ferrell's book 'C&Sng' , there's a good picture of both 025 and 089 on page 218. After looking the Bachmann combine would make a better stand in as a model of 089. All I have to do is figure out how to surgically remove the baggageand platform and doctor the roof to match.  Any suggestions?

Ok now that the issue of the stand in car is kinda settled, now something new.  There is a photo in here of one of those non revenue cars. If I go by that color, would I be ok? Remember this Bachmann combine is just a stand in.

Will do. They have some interesting kits. Crusader Rail carries them.

Fred,
You have motivated me to start on myS kitbash using a Tomalco Kit for the really short combine, turns out 1ft short in the body. I was going to kitbash the sides,I wound up making new sodes from evergreen and grandt windows, altered the end for the long windows. The hardest job will to alter the roof ends, will be a compromise. more as I progress. Paul R

Paul,
Looking forward to seeing your progress. Although I model in On30, your build should provide me with a lot of inspiration too. Right now, I'm sidelined with horrid eye infections, so progress has ground to a halt...arrrrgh. annnnd to top it off we're going to miss the concention as my much better and understanding wife can't travel, yet.

Fred,
I can understand the eye problem frustration, mine took surgery to fix but still need magnification to do modelling, below are photos  to where I am at! Question for the experts- early#025 would have been green or red(DSP&P orDL&G) Paul R.

Also what colour for the inside, I will have some interior details.Paul R.

Neat looking pictures. My eyes are much.improved and I am going to start with the combine again. Looked in my copy of Ferrel's 'C&S' and a couple if other places and it seems that 025 and other equipment or business cars were boxcar red. I have some Tuscan red on hand and will try it out. Lettering is going to be from a set of decals to  The box cars I havw left over. Keep me in the loop.
