Earlier this week, Keith was kind enough to stop at the Museum in Golden and poke around under the Phase 1 (built 1900) stock car.
One of his photos illustrates a variation of how the suspended center bracket and brake levers was mounted to the two center sills. (Keith's photo was of excellent quality, I just had to play with the contrast and brightness illustrate the hardware).

The link around the rail that was attached to the center bracket is visible.
