TSM styrene rolling stock kits

I have a number of styrene Triangle Scale Models kits of C&S prototypes that I'd like to build.  this in spite of the fact there are "better" injection molded kits that were available from Overland and P-B-L.

Has anyone had success with these TSM kits, and are there any special precautions I should know about?  I expect to pre-age the sheet and strip styrene with a fine saw blade and sandpaper to better represent wood, and use P-B-L grabiron ends for added detail.  Probably also use P-B-L trucks.
