Keith,

I suspect the later cinder cars could be done with the hinges printed in 3D and the peak inside done with scribed styrene sheet.  I’m making the assumption they were peaked inside but I don’t know for sure.  

The hinges could also be built as brass or styrene masters and cast in resin too.  An entire side could also be built up and cast as a complete side...
