Waterton trains

John McCutcheon
When the Waterton branch was active would a train be sent out on days when there was not a Denver to Como freight since Denver to Como and Leadville to Como were run on opposite days.

John, it probably just depended on need rather than convenience. They could have done a Waterton turn any day and not have interfered with mainline operations, they had plenty of enginemen on the Denver extra board, and most likely a couple of engines under steam at any time.

If convenience played a role, it may have had more to do with what was going on with the Clear Creek Branch than the main on a given day.

Thanks Mike that would explain #70 being photographed in latter years on the branch
