My in-laws recently gave me a book titled Train by Tom Zoellner for Christmas. It is a delightful book by a journalist who travels the world by train and relates the history of rail travel throughout history. The author related the story in one chapter about Walt Disney's railroad connections and I was surprised to find that a Colorado narrow gauge train played a role in his eventual development of Disneyland. I then remembered another Disney/C&S narrow connection and put together a short piece about the two crossings. I've divided it into two posts. The first on is on my blog here:
Two Crossings: Walt Disney and the C&S narrow gauge, part 1. You can also find it on my
Substack here.
Enjoy,
Kurt
If you're looking for an enjoyable read that is outside of the typical railroad book fare, but still imbued with railroad history, check out Zoellner's book.
