Here is part 6 of a series I have been working on to chronicle the history of the C&Sng displays and restorations in Central City.
This sixth part covers the Colorado Central Narrow Gauge's attempt to hang on while its owners get pulled more and more to the restoration of the Georgetown Loop. Plans are developed to work around the long-gone Mountain City trestle to reach Black Hawk, including the purchase of a Westside Lumber Company Shay. Eventually, the CCNG closes down, but not long afterwards an attempt is made by the Colorado Historical Society to move C&S 71 over to Silver Plume. After pressure forces the engine's return, C&S 71 is rapidly at the center of a restoration effort itself.
I'm hoping some of you will enjoy hearing the story, but I am also sharing in hopes to learn more. I would be happy to receive any information that my readers, especially those involved with rail restoration work in Central City, may have to add to, adjust, or correct the content.
Enjoy,
Kurt
