I'm done cutting Bait.
The silent sentinel of the Penrose towers over Leadville in 1941.
But let us go back to an earlier period.

This seemingly random Sanborn Postcard view of Leadville innocently shows us the new loading trestles of the Penrose: The stack of Pipes for the shaft pumps almost obscure the Coal track.

Note the D&RG cars with C&S at rear; n.g. cars on 3-rail trackage.
Democrat Herald Mining Expose of Jan 1st 1902 shows both C&S and D&RG cars loading.

Note the Headframe was rebuilt in 1904. Now 3 Sheaves visible.
Ooooh, what have we here? This image was also in the Digerness' The Mineral Belt V-I, but unremarked and unidentified. Let's lighten that up a bit.
Where else would one find a Leadville Waste Rock sidedump(aka Cindercar) car be found!!!

FOOTNOTE:
I've been researching this(and the Downtown mine story) for the past 15 years; the interest was started off by finding Digerness' Mineral Belt books back in the early 1980's; visiting Leadville on nearly every trip I made to the US, and most seriously over the past few years. When Keith put up his April 1st 2019 Penrose thread I felt I shouldn't bring the story to light, lest I be thought of throwing shade on his fine modelling efforts, which certainly is not the case.
I have probably twice as much in addition to the above, but in the interests of readability, I choose to restrain myself.
Down Town Mines Pt. 1 will come soon; a Miner Epic!
