On the subject of Flangers

Al Pomeroy
Not wanting to steal Keith's Thunder in his flanger build, i thought i would share with you a couple of photo's of my recently completed RGS Drag Flanger 01, in 1:20.32 for which i was able to secure first place in this years model contest MOW category.

If anyone is interested i have a packet of D&RG/D&RGW flanger prints comprising of nine drawings, and miscellaneous sketches and notes available as i no longer have the nead. includes wooden frame and steel frame details, very detailed stringer drawings etc..

OK in the original configuration: the rivited Frog is a bonus for those inclined to model outside of the square.

Thanks for the photos.  The lighting conditions and the low table at Pittsburgh did not do it justice.  Congratulations on the FIRST!

Chris

Thanks for posting the photo.

Believe photo was taken  at Sargent.  OK was mostly used in Marshall Pass Hill turns. An example:

Extra 475 East with helpers 477 and 474 . 14 0 540 tons flanger OK and caboose 0573 arrived Marshall Pass (MP) 220 PM

Engines 477 and 474 departed MP 240 PM coupled

Extra 475 West with flanger OK and caboose 0573 departed MP at 3 PM

Likely  consist from the front was 477 OK 475 14 loads 0573 474. Flanger OK had to be turned as well as the engines.  There was a turntable inside the snowshed at MP.

Pat,

I 've been told this is at Sargent several times, but I'm sure it is at Crested Butte, as the Flanger & Loco are sitting over the Enginehouse switches, the high gable Depot is visible behind the man on the right.  I can't see a duplicate that layout of tracks at Sargent and also I'm certain that place didn't get the snowfall shown in the picture.
OI shows up in views at Sargents fwiw: Kramer's Twilight on the Narrow Gauge called it a Chevy Yard Goat.
