New member- wanted to say hello

drgwcs
Hello everyone my name is Jim Curran and I model the C&S Clear Creek line in HOn3 (as well as Rio Grande in Standard Gauge but please don't hold that against me  ) I just wanted to introduce myself. Got interested in the Clear Creek line through the articles by Harry Brunk in the Gazette as well as family vacations to the area when I was a kid. I also will be sharing some of the photos that my Dad Weldon took of the area going back as far as 1955.
Thanks so much
Jim Curran

I will do. The narrow gauge portion is fairly small- consisting of Idaho Springs and is 2x8 with an additional unfinished section that ties it in to the main layout. The pics I am posting were before our move to Virginia 2 years ago. I have a fair amount of work to do as there was damage during the move. I basically have to relay the track and I had to make some repairs to the Argo Tunnel chutes- (those are almost done.) I concentrated on the standard gauge part of the layout first which is is O shaped and 16x7 Eventually I will probably add Black Hawk on a narrow shelf on the backside of this scene. I do have some dual gauge in the Denver section as well. What stinks is that I have not found my #71 since the move. It was an extensive kitbash from a MDC engine. I have a Lambert 2-6-0 that I still need to paint so until I find 71 or paint I need motive power...

I don't envy you having to move a layout.  It must be aggravating at best...

The narrow gauge portion has been kind of the constant. It has been through seven moves. The last layout was a switching layout in a tiny Chicago apartment. It was just the narrow gauge and a 2x8 Denver cityscape in an L shaped configuration. (My one before that was a lot larger) Never got the one in Chicago finished. I am thankful to have a nice space to work in. Here is a view of the whole new layout. The narrow gauge is in the very back-  please excuse the broad gauge.

Welcome Jim,
Thanks for sharing pictures of your layout.
I too am familiar with the challenges of moving layouts.
HOn3 is the path I have chosen.

Hi Jim:
Your post is really nice. I am considering a switch to Hon3 from On30. Like you Harry Brunk and his work on his Clear Creek line is a source for me as I own both volumes of Up Clear Creek.
Fortunately once my layout is in place I wont have to move it.
