My little people are full of...

Jeff Young
I needed a scratch-built outhouse for my newly-completed Jefferson depot.

Since I find building a kit first gives me the hang of things, I broke out a Banta kit and built a pair of them.  Once I was rolling, though, it seemed to make sense to finish off the other 4 outhouses in the kit.

And, once I started to scratch-build the depot outhouse, it also seemed more efficient to do a couple of them at a time too.

You can probably see where this is going
.
.
.

Notes:

The grey and green one is of course for the depot.
The pair of buff and brown ones are for the D&RGW yard at Sargent.
The boarded up one is for the Senate Saloon in Kokomo.  (My layout is set during prohibition.)
The one with peeling white paint is for the log house at 64 Main St. Jefferson:

The one to the left with the door open is for the Jefferson school house (getting kids to close the door behind them was tough work then too).
The derelict one in the back is for a shuttered assay office in Kokomo.

The 6 single-door outhouses are from the Banta kit, with Grandt Line hinges and custom roof treatments.
The 4 two-door board & batten outhouses are scratch-built board-on-board over cardstock.
The tar paper roofs are tissue from the Banta kit.
The standing seam metal roofs are from Builders in Scale.
The singles are from Wild West.

Cheers,
Jeff.

At the top of page 8 of the coal chute thread (http://c-sng-discussion-forum.41377.n7.nabble.com/The-C-amp-S-Coal-Chutes-Pine-Como-Dickey-Pitkin-and-almost-Breckenridge-td4269i140.html), Chris posted a photo of newly constructed Colorado Central outhouses--proving that there is a prototype for everything.

Nicely done. Do you have a crescent cutter?

Hi Rich,

No, the crescent doors are all from the Banta kit (I swapped some of them around with the scratch-built ones).

Cheers,
Jeff.

PS: thanks for all the comments, everyone.  Particularly the prototype pic! :)
